Isabel Francisca Reyes Alcantar

December 21, 1965 - March 5, 2022

Isabel Francisca Reyes Alcantar, 56, of Suttons Bay passed away unexpectedly in an automobile accident on March 5, 2022. Isabel was born on December 21, 1965 in McAllen, Texas. On December 26, 1984, she married Jesus Angel Reyes in Edinburg, Texas. Isabel’s life was founded on three important pillars – family, faith and education. She loved her husband and three children Cyndi, Jessy and Juan. She also cherished her 16 siblings including Manuel Menchaca (Dalia) and their families. Faith was always a part of Isabel’s life. She was a long time member of the Leelanau Community Church and would often volunteer her time at the church and translated services for those in need. At a young age, Isabel was not able to finish her high school degree, so at the age of 42, she earned her degree from the Suttons Bay Adult Education Program. She then went on to attend classes at NMC and always shared with her family and friends the importance of a good education. She then went on to earn her Certified Nurse’s Assistant certificate. She was an extraordinary care giver and worked at Munson on the Orthopedic Floor and also at the Tendercare in Suttons Bay. Even when she wasn’t working she would visit the residents and would often have a care package for them. Her favorite pastimes included gardening and crocheting for her loved ones. She had a very giving and caring heart and would often adopt people into her life and share blessings with them. Even in her passing she continued to GIVE; Isabel was a registered organ donor. Although she is gone she will continue to live on through many. She will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. Isabel is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Jesus; their sons Jessy and Juan (Angela); grandchildren Caleb and Theodore; Her Mothers Maria Menchaca & Maricela Alcantar; her 16 siblings and their families and her beloved Alli. Isabel joins her beloved daughter Cyndi in Heaven whom she cared for throughout her life; her fathers Antonio Alcantar Jr & Alfredo Menchaca Jr. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 5 to 9 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:00 am with visitation beginning at 9 am, also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the Leelanau Christian Neighbors Baby Pantry.
