Jack Jürgen Hardenburg, 70, of Traverse City, passed away May 13, 2020 after a prolonged illness. Jack was born in Eschewge, Germany on November 23, 1949 to parents Andrew and Anna (Weiter) Hardenburg. He immigrated with his mother to the United States when he was a child. Jack served 23 years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Michigan, Philippines, Wyoming, Germany, Washington DC and Ohio. Jack was proud to have served in the armed forces for as long as he did. Jack loved to play games, most especially cribbage and dominoes. He spent years at the senior center playing games regularly with his good friends. He also loved to frequent Mackinaw brewing company for a cold Stout or Belgian and a hot Rueben sandwich. Jack was loved for his positive outlook on life and his great sense of humor. Even as his health failed, Jack would always be cheerful and kind to whomever he encountered, usually offering up a hand for quick high five or a Prost with his favorite beer. Jack is survived by his son Jack Hardenburg Jr. and daughter Juliette (Bradley) Goodwin; grandchildren Brandan, Kevin, Carson and Nickolaus Goodwin, and Noah Hardenburg. A celebration of Jack's life will take place Friday, May 13, 2022, 11:00 AM, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the time of service.
