Jeffrey John Kilmer
October 2, 1968 - April 21, 2022
Jeffrey John Kilmer, 53, of New York, NY died on April 21, 2022 after a nine month struggle with complications from abdominal surgery and liver disease. Jeffrey was born October 2, 1968 in Rochester, MI where he spent his early years attending St. John Lutheran School, enjoying family fishing trips to Ontario, Canada and summer vacations at Wall Lake. After attending Rochester High School, Jeffrey went on to earn a BS in civil engineering from Michigan State University, a Masters in Architecture from the University of Michigan, and studied architecture at universities in Vienna and Prague. After graduating, Jeffrey moved to the Lower East Side of Manhattan where he pursued his architecture career at various firms. In 2004 Jeffrey began to focus his energy exclusively on photography. He traveled the world photographing architecture, interior design, and landscapes for Coach, Michael Kors, Paper Magazine, and others, while concurrently building his personal portfolio. In 2009 Jeffrey published "23% PURE", a collection of disaffected tattooed "rockstar kids" against a backdrop of landscapes and urban decay. Jeffrey loved his photography projects, traveling, music, art, nature, sweets, Detroit, his NYT, and the characters he met during his extensive travels and while tending bar at Home Sweet Home. Jeffrey is survived by his father Theodore, mother Janet, brother Robert [Jennifer], nieces Ella and Kennedy and countless friends in the family he built in NYC and around the world. Services are being planned in Traverse City, MI. We find comfort knowing Jeffrey was well-loved and will be well-remembered.
