Joan Louise Harriger, 94, of Empire, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Munson Hospice House. Joan was born on May 8, 1929 in Empire to the late Joseph and Celeste (Taghon) Dhuyvetter. She married the love of her life, Donald Francis Harriger on September 24, 1950 in Ontario, California. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2023.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She had been employed as a teller at Empire National Bank, retiring in 1991, after many years of service. She was a faithful member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed painting and doing crafts. Above all, spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Joan is survived by her loving children; Sallie (Joseph) Bishop, Joseph Harriger, Mary (Douglas) Gosling and Lisa (Norman) Harriger-Jones; grandchildren Joanna Hetzel, Jennifer Bishop, Sandra (Tom) Randall, Nicholas Gosling and Abigail (Sam) Wood; great-grandchildren Lucas, Seth, Micah, Zinnia, Thomas, Ella and Maisie. Also surviving are two sisters; Patricia Spreng and Sandy Dhuyvetter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Marcia DeBerard.

A Funeral Mass honoring Joan, will take place at 11:00 a.m., with a 9:30 a.m. Rosary and 10:00 a.m. visitation, on Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 11411 S. Lacore Rd., Empire, Michigan 49630. Rev. Kenneth Stachnik will officiate.
