October 28, 1926 - May 7, 2022
Jolan Ida Filak, 95, of Traverse City and formerly of Detroit passed away peacefully on May 7, 2022 at Traverse Manor Assisted Living. Jolan was born on October 28, 1926 in Detroit to the late William and Marie Asztalos. Jolan will forever be remembered for her love of family, her faith and as a wonderful, classy woman. She loved being a mother and took great pride in raising her three children. Throughout her life, she was a devoted member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Allen Park. In her younger years, she loved to dance and socialize with friends. She also enjoyed working at Hudson's in Detroit and Friensley's department stores in Tennessee. She was always dressed to the nines, but it was her beautiful smile that made her truly remarkable. Jolan was preceded in death by her first husband Deszie Combos; second husband John Filak; son Jeff and sister Marie Boroznaki. Jolan is survived by her son David (Annie) Combos; daughter Sallie Combos; daughter-in-law Debbie Combos, stepchildren Joe Swindle, Matt Filak, Mark Filak and John Filak; grandchildren John (Victoria) Davis, Sara Combos, Andrew Combos and Katie Combos; niece Marie (Jim) Shearer and their daughter Marie; and special friend Doloris Mei. The family will celebrate Jolan's life at a memorial service at the Hungarian Reformed Church at a later date. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be directed to the church.
