Mom was an amazing role model for us all. Compassionate, loving, caring and loyal would be just a few words that best describes her. Her kids were so blessed to have had her as their mom, and she was so proud of all of us. She was our biggest cheerleader, always. She would encourage us to seek our dreams and would always support us to the very end. She was always up for a day trip, and it didn't matter where we were going she was game and would always bring the snacks. She loved our day trips to Lake Michigan to hunt for rocks, and never turned down a chance to attend an Estate sale, because she always loved a good deal. Mom was a hard worker, a dedicated wife and an amazing mother. She single handily raised her son and daughter, and a step mother of four, grandmother of nine and great grandmother of five. She never missed a sporting event, graduation or wedding. Her family was always her joy and top priority. Even after retirement, she worked hard to be her very best every day. She was always first in line if someone needed something. If it had anything to do with sewing, knitting, crafts or baking she was your gal. She was crazy talented when it came to that. She baked for endless school and sporting events, custom crafted quilts for every family member, and knitted or sewed for anyone in need. It would be hard to locate someone in her community that was not touched by her talents. She loved her garden, that was her happy place. Whenever she wasn't in her house, you could find her tinkering in the garden, which was her pride and joy. Her garden fed so many people throughout the years, unfortunately including the deer and bunnies. She loved the outdoors, going for a walk in the woods, relaxing under a shade tree reading a good book or just watching the birds. Another one of her favorite things was spending the day at home caring for her endless "to do" list. She often convinced her kids that was our favorite thing to do as well. All of us will miss her in so many wonderful ways. She enriched our lives with her positive personality, her adventurous zest for life, her warm smile and hug when you entered the room, her fabulous cooking, her knowledge and advice, her loving heart and dedication to all her family, and most important her love for God. The world was simply a better place with her in it. We will miss her every day. Let us all honor Jo by being more like her in our everyday lives. Being more loving, practice patience and kindness, visit family more, appreciate more, and give more. That is the legacy that would make her proud. We love you mom!
