Obituary

We are sad to say that we lost our beloved mother Judy Ann Mallwitz, on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Judy had just celebrated her 81st birthday on December 10, 2022.

Judy was born in Traverse City on December 10, 1941, daughter to Joseph and Alvina (Phillips) Bolek. She prided herself on being a true native of Traverse City. Throughout her life she was involved in several bowling leagues at J&G Lanes and Timber Lanes. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary Club. She also enjoyed gardening, pets and traveling. She worked years at Potters Bakery and 19 years at Munson Medical Center where she took great pride in her job. Judy had a very witty sense of humor, was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and was a good and loyal friend to those who knew her.

On July 23, 1960 Judy married the love of her life, Hans Mallwitz. It is with great honor to say that they were married for 61 years. They were "two peas in a pod" and rarely apart from each other. They did everything together including bowling, taking trips with friends and family and spending quiet times just sitting in their sunroom watching nature in their backyard.

Judy will dearly be missed and we will cherish all of the fun memories of laughter, dancing, and joking around. She was one of a kind and left an impression on those she came in contact with. We know that she is in good hands now and no longer suffering with pain that she had for so many years.

Judy is survived by her husband Hans; children Scott Mallwitz, Tony (Lisa) Mallwitz and Tracy (Liz Seidel) Mallwitz; grandchildren Jessica and Kyle (Sami Schab) Mallwitz; sisters Mary (Phil) Jordan and Nancy Hancock; dear friend Mary Kaltenbach; sister-in-law Margaret Sewell; dear friends Cinda and Jude Lamie; as well as many other extended family members, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Pauline, Phyllis, Joyce and Richard.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will take place Friday, December 16, from 4-6PM. A brief scripture service will take place at 4PM. Graveside memorial will be determined at a later date and listed in the Record Eagle as well as at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .

If you wish to donate to an organization, Judy chose The Humane Society for her love of animals.

We would like to say a special thank you to the Big Boy family who my parents visited quite frequently and got to know the staff on a personal level.

Memories and condolences may also be shared anytime on Judy's tribute page, www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com
