Kathleen Anne Baarstad, 55 of Maple City, passed away with her family by her side on November 6, 2022 after recently being diagnosed with liver cancer.
Kathleen, better known as Kathy, was born on November 25, 1966 in Villa Park, Illinois to George Brian and Lynda (Dwionen) O'Donnell.
On August 25, 1990, Kathy married David Baarstad in Downers Grove, IL.
Kathy was a true pillar of the community and was the current president of the Glen Arbor Chamber of Commerce. She was always upbeat and spunky and will be greatly missed by her colleagues at Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor. Her work at Cherry Republic helped her to extend her kindness to people all over the world through the Work Exchange Program. She was a vibrant, unifying person who always greeted others with a smile and had the uncanny ability to make those around her feel comfortable and happy. She would do anything to lend a helping hand and was always generous with her time, thoughtful and passionate. She will be remembered as an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Kathy is survived by her husband David; their children Kadi Baarstad, Cameron Baarstad, Sara Baarstad; her father George, sister Heather Richards and mother-in-law Gwen Baarstad.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother Lynda and father-in-law Sherman Baarstad.
A Celebration of her life will take place Sunday, November 13th from 1:00-4:00pm at the Cherry Republic Glen Arbor Campus. The service will begin at 1 pm. (6026 A, 5109, S Lake St, Glen Arbor, MI 49636).
In accordance with her wishes, she chose the University of Michigan for anatomical donation to further science.
