Obituary

Kevin Wayne Dillan, 66, of Traverse City, formerly of Midland, Michigan passed away on Saturday, February 27th, 2021 at Munson Medical Center. Kevin was born on September 24th, 1954 in Darlington, PA, to the late Harry and Gloria (VanKirk) Dillan.

Kevin received curative cancer surgery in July at the University of Michigan. Sadly, ARDS complicated his healing just prior to discharge. Kevin lost his spirited and driven determination after seven months of hospitalization.

Kevin enjoyed his new home on Old Mission Peninsula's East Bay, with his wife Kelly. He looked forward to spending time with family, friends, and new neighbors that quickly became friends. Kevin enjoyed kayaking, gardening and fishing and looked forward to using his new fishing pole. He recently held the position of volunteer treasurer, on the board of The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay.

Kevin retired from a successful career with the Dow Chemical Company. His latest role, at Dow, was a Global Business Director for the Epoxy business. He received his Masters of Science Degree in Organic Chemistry from NYU, early in his career. Kevin's various roles throughout his career provided him with the opportunity to take many trips throughout the world. He enjoyed many friendships, mentored many and was a kind gentle soul. Kevin always smiled and thanked the many caregivers during his seven-month journey. Those who knew Kevin would not be surprised.

Kevin is survived by his wife Kelly, brother in-law, Rick (Kate) Galus, brother in-law Sam (Lisa) Galus, Uncle Michael VanKirk, cousin Gayla (Frank) Tkac and several cousins. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Gloria and Harry Dillan.

In accordance with Kevin's wishes cremation has taken place. A private memorial service honoring Kevin will be held at a later date in June.
