Margaret 'Marge' McKinley

TRAVERSE CITY — Margaret E. "Marge" McKinley, 96, died peacefully in her sleep July 24, 2011, at Orchard Creek Assisted Living in Greilickville.Margaret was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Manistee, to Amelia (Mantych) and Charles Sylvester Kozlowski.Margaret lived most of her life in Traverse City, including retirement years at the family cottage on Lime Lake near Cedar, where she tendered her numerous flower gardens with loving care. She was married to William P. McKinley for 59 years, up until the time of his death in October 2000.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edwin (Clara) Kozlowski and Joseph Kozlowski; and sisters, Sophie (Wally) Michalski and Clara Kozlowski.Margaret is survived by her three sons, William McKinley (Judith Briggs), of Traverse City, Robert (Cathy) McKinley, of Suttons Bay, and Thomas (Sue) McKinley, of Cypress, Texas; five wonderful grandchildren, Marcie McKinley (Michele Galleazzi), Mark McKinley, Bridget McKinley (Andrew Stoy), Christy McKinley, Katlyn McKinley; five delightful great-grandchildren; her devoted former daughter-in-law, Roseanne McKinley; and other loving nieces and nephews in Michigan and Wisconsin.The family would like to thank the very caring staff at Orchard Creek for their many years of wonderful care while Margaret was a resident of the retirement home, and especially during the past weeks, which required special care. They would also like to thank the local staff of Hospice of Michigan for their support and guidance during this difficult time.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. The family will receive friends and visitors at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
