Margaret Luinstra, 91, of Traverse City passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Margaret was born to the late Erwin and Inez Morey in Wheeler, Michigan on April 28, 1927. Marge, and her family, moved to Traverse City in 1961 and resided here until her passing. Margaret was united in marriage to Peter Luinstra on July 2, 1965. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church and Traverse City T.O.P.P.S. #308. Marge retired from Tru Fit in 1983 after nineteen years of service.

She will be fondly remembered for her expertise as a seamstress and passion for sewing and quilting; for which she made many warm blankets. She also enjoyed puzzles, being an active member of the Salvation Army, and especially Wednesday night cards with her friends. Above all, Marge enjoyed spending time with her loving family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Janet Trombley (late Raymond), Larry (Barb) McCallister, Gilbert (Dawn) McCallister, Brenda (Garry) Fisher, Dian (Thomas) Edenburn, Kathy (Mike) Gabourie, and Tammy; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, her husband, and two grandchildren.

A Funeral Service honoring Margaret will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Salvation Army Church, 1239 Barlow St., Traverse City, MI, 49686. A public visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. prior to service beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Major Dawn Russell officiating. A luncheon is set to follow afterwards at the Salvation Army. Interment will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
