On the 12th night of Christmas, our beloved MaryAnne Greyerbiehl, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this world at the age of 91 in Traverse City, MI, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family.
Born on October 27th, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, MaryAnne was the cherished daughter of the late Dougal and Margaret (Lemanski) MacEachin. In a beautiful union, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Greyerbiehl, on December 27th, 1952, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly, Michigan.
MaryAnne's life was a testament to her deep commitment to faith, family, and a welcoming hospitality that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. As a devoted mother, she raised seven children with boundless love and care.
One of MaryAnne's cherished traditions was hosting a 12th Night party during the Christmas season. This festive gathering brought loved ones together, contributing Christmas trees for a communal bonfire. Amidst laughter, stories, hot toddies, and songs around the fire, her home radiated with the warmth of friendship and familial love, complemented by delicious food and shared memories.
Beyond her roles as a wife and mother, MaryAnne was a multi-talented individual—a proud inventor, artist, and businesswoman. She retired from Blue Care Network, leaving a lasting impact on all those she encountered.
Proud of her Scottish and Polish heritage, MaryAnne found strength in her roots. Her love for her Scottish father, Dougal MacEachin, resonated in her life and style.
MaryAnne was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard, daughters Lori and Ann, son Michael, son-in-law Stephen, her parents, and six brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Thomas and Sally (Koboldt) Greyerbiehl, daughter, Sue Rehmann, son, John and Brigitte (Monnicke) Greyerbiehl, and daughter, Nancy and Sam Barrie. MaryAnne leaves a lasting legacy through her 15 grandchildren, Ben, Matthew, Heidi, Heather, Farleigh, Josh, Erin, Mary, Levi, Luke, Jack, James, Sabine, Anja, and Alex, as well as 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Hospice of Michigan, especially Kendra, Father Don of St. Francis for Last Rights, and the many friends, family, and colleagues who reached out to her in her final days.
Funeral Mass and a celebration of MaryAnne's extraordinary life will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 12th, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union St. Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
MaryAnne will be fondly remembered for her enduring love, boundless generosity, and the joy she brought to the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories that will be held close to the hearts of her family and friends.
