Melvin G. Hollenbeck

Melvin Gordon Hollenbeck, 90, of Kewadin, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his home. Melvin was born on November 24, 1931 in Traverse City to the late Kenner and Beatrice (Udell) Hollenbeck. He married the love of his life, Louise Matteson on May 20, 1956. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2019. Melvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Melvin was a fruit grower, he farmed with his dad for many years and later with his son, Arlen. He attended Kewadin United Methodist Church. He liked ice fishing with family and friends.

Melvin is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Hollenbeck and a granddaughter, Liza Hollenbeck.

He was preceded in death by his son, Arlen Hollenbeck.

A funeral service honoring Melvin will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, 3575 Veterans Dr, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Pastor Howard Harvey will officiate.

Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army, Cherryland V.F.W. post 2780 and American Legion post 35.
