My Linh Thi Moran, age 80, of Traverse City passed away September 7, 2021. My Linh was born on July 15, 1941 in a small village near Saigon South Vietnam and lived there until moving to the US. She served her country as a combat nurse in the Vietnam conflict caring for the wounded and the dead, she moved to the United States in 1971. She raised her family in Mancelona, MI and opened her first hair salon. She moved to Traverse City in 1989 where she owned and operated Happy Shears hair salon on 14th street in Traverse City for many years. She was the most humble person that you ever met. She was quick to smile, and although English was here second language she connected with everyone she met and was loved by all who knew her. She was also very proud to be able to act as in interpreter to help Vietnamese refugees adjust to America. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and being in nature. Faith was very important to My Linh and her churches, St. Francis in Traverse City and St. Anthony in Mancelona, were special to her. My Linh was preceded in death by her first husband Tam Nguyen who served his country and was killed in action, My Linh's 2nd husband Alfred J. Moran from Mancelona served in the US Navy, her son Thao Moran who served in the US Air Force. My Linh is survived by her sons Thuan Moran of Mokena, IL, and Alfred J. (Gus) Moran of Japan and her daughter in-law Theressa and three grandchildren; George, Sophia and Jackson and her close friend, David Beer of Traverse City. My Linh's life will be celebrated and honored at a later date.
