Nancy Ann Strang (Schwind), 72 who blessed the world with her presence on April 9, 1947, was peacefully called home by the Lord surrounded by her loving family on May 28, 2019.
She was born and raised in Traverse City, MI. She grew up and lived out her beautiful life on her father's family centennial farm. Nancy was the daughter of Ferdinand and Elizabeth Schwind (both preceded in death). She will be missed greatly by her brothers and twin sister, James (Yvonne) Schwind, Jerry (Cheryl) Schwind, Linda (Arthur) Gauthier and sister in-law Patricia Schwind, and brother in-law John Gauthier. Nancy is preceded in death by her brother William Schwind and sisters Beverly Shoffner and Karen Gauthier, and niece Cindy Gauthier.
Nancy married the love of her life, James "Jim" Strang, on November 26, 1966. They honored their vows of 52 years with a deep faithful love "for better or worse" and "in sickness and in health". Jim adored Nancy. She was also loved and will be deeply missed by their 3 daughters and son in-laws, Tammy (Fred) Leishman, Julie (Al) Brown, Angela (Tom) Schuiling and by her 7 grandchildren who meant everything to her: Mikayla, McKenzie and Madison Leishman, Tara, Rory, and Jared Brown, and Trevor Schuiling.
Nancy had a fun, vibrant and loving personality. She loved to laugh and joke. She had one of those laughs that was uplifting, distinctive and contagious which brought joy to those around her. Nancy also had a very giving, selfless soul which was demonstrated in many ways, one of them being her passion for baking which she shared with so many. In addition, she also enjoyed nature walks, bird watching, puzzles, golfing, collecting stuffed bears and family gatherings.
Above all, Nancy was a devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her, they were what she lived for. Everything she did for them, she put her heart and soul into. She was the sunshine on their gloomy days. Nancy's memory, love, and soul will not only live on eternally but in her family's hearts forever.
Viewing was held Friday at Reynolds Jonkhoff, Christian funeral service will be held Saturday at Christ the King Church at 1 p.m.
