Obituary

Paul M. Keranen, 87, of Interlochen passed away March 3, 2021 at his home.

Paul was born on October 2, 1933 in Atlantic Mine up near Copper Harbor to the late Einard and Alma (Kempainen) Keranen. He was one of 10 children.

Paul married Phyllis Ann DeHetre on August 26, 1955.

Paul was a carpenter and a proud member of the #687 Carpenters Union. In his younger years he played hockey and later in life he loved to cheer on the Detroit Red Wings. He also liked to fish and travel. Leatherwork was also a favorite pastime.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and his son Randy.

Paul is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis; children Donna Ellis, Cynthia (Edward Rychlewski) Keranen and David Keranen; grandchildren Heather, Matthew, Sarah, Jeremy, Rachel, Joshua, Rebecca, Ryan, Ashley and Allison; and great grandchildren Parker, Benjamin, Madylyn and Maisonn. Of all the titles Paul had, Papa was his favorite and he loved to spend time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

The funeral service will be held on March 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Burial will take place this spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley.
