Peggy Joyce Featherstone 91, passed away on Aug 17, 2022, at Munson Hospice House. Peggy was born in Dickson, Tennessee to Charles and Helen (nee: Dockery) Arnold on January 25, 1931.
She grew up in Flint, Michigan and attended Northern High School. Peggy later attended Baker Business College in Flint and Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City. She married the late William Martin in 1947. They had two sons: Michael and Dennis. Peggy married Robert (Bob) Featherstone in 1956 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2016.
Peggy worked for General Motors in Flint for many years. Peggy and Bob moved to Traverse City in 1969 and opened a family electrical contracting business. Peggy enjoyed her employment at NBT Bank's Commercial Loan department and Munson Hospital Public Relations department.
Peggy and Bob transitioned into retirement, traveling extensively in their motorhome across the US. Alaska was a trip of a lifetime for them. They wintered in Mesa, AZ for many years, and later returned Traverse City as their year-round home.
Peggy enjoyed writing; she published the children's book "Smokey the Raccoon" adored by many. Some of her hobbies were weaving baskets and making beautiful jewelry. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a "Big" volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Martin (August 2022) and beloved husband Bob Featherstone (October 2016); her parents; two brothers and one sister; Featherstone family members Roche and Carolyn.
Surviving Peggy is her son Michael (Patty) Martin; granddaughter Marley (Justin) McManus and great grandchildren Wynn and Nolan; daughter-in-law Maria Chops-Martin; Bob's siblings, James (Anne) Featherstone, Janet Blackmer, and Beverly Lazar in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Central Methodist Church in Traverse City on September 1, 2022, at 11am, visitation 1 hour prior. Peggy's cremains will be placed with Bob in the church columbarium.
Memorial contributions are suggested for Munson Hospice House or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan.
