Perry Martin Egeler

February 4, 1935 - July 29, 2021

Perry Martin Egeler, 86, of Dexter and formerly of Lake Leelanau passed away July 29, 2021 at the Ascension Hospital in Novi. Perry was born on February 4, 1935 on the Egeler Centennial Farm to the late William H. and Hattie (Kroupa) Egeler. On January 5, 1954, Perry started his service with the United States Army stationed in Germany. He served for two years until he was honorably discharged on December 20, 1956. On June 15, 1957, Perry married Judith Nel Gildarski, the love of his life, in Suttons Bay. Perry and Judith owned Egeler Lift Truck Service for many years. He was a member and very involved in the Brooksville, FL community and the Florida State Fair where he volunteered for nine years. Perry enjoyed gardening, going on cruises, playing cards, and dancing. He enjoyed telling jokes and making friends and family laugh. Most of all, he loved spending time with his girls. He was known as “Papa” to his grandchildren. Perry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judith; their daughter Peri Ann Raushi, granddaughters Ellen (Larry) Williams and Nancy (Michael) Houze and great grandchildren Angel Williams and Lillian Houze. He is also survived by his brothers Orville (Fran) and Arthur (Fran) and Sister-In-Law Judith M. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Evelyn Potts, brothers Ralph (Polly), Clifford, and Ted (Shirley). Interment took place at Oakwood Cemetery on Monday August 2, 2021 where he received full military honors. Arrangements were made by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Ann Arbor VA. Perry’s family would like to thank the Manor of Novi, Ascension Hospital, and his caregiver Jaquanda for the compassionate care he received.
