Philip D. Weatherholt

Philip D. Weatherholt, 84 of Old Mission passed away March 6, 2020 at his home. Philip was born on May 13, 1935 in Traverse City to the late Frank and Frances (Swaney) Weatherholt. On August 10, 1954 Philip married his high school sweetheart Marguerite Elizabeth Vincent at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. Philip was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a volunteer for 43 years at the Peninsula Fire Department. He was a lifelong fruit grower on the family farm and in his spare time enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in the U.P. Philip joins his beloved wife Marguerite and two of their children in Heaven, Matthew James Weatherholt and Mary Anne Avery; sisters Elaine (Oscar) Thomas, Jean (Jerry) Gleason, Muriel Donoghue and Pat (Robert) Wolf. Philip is survived by his children Mark (Maristella), David, Sara (Robert) O'Hara, Ellen (Matthew) Lambert; daughter-in-law Nancy Weatherholt and son-in-law Mark Avery; grandchildren Alexander (Sara) Avery, Matthew Weatherholt, Spencer (Katie) Avery, Michael Weatherholt, Nicholas Weatherholt, Madalyn (Christopher Brower) Weatherholt, Abigail Weatherholt, Katherine Weatherholt, Ethan Weatherholt and Lucas Lambert; great grandchildren Kadence, Molly and Benjamin Avery and sister Joyce (John) Culver. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation beginning at noon. Graveside services will follow the mass along with a light luncheon in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Peninsula Fire Department or to the Women's Guild at St. Joe's.
