Portia Ann McDermid, 57, of Buckley, passed away August 25, 2022. Although her life was far too short, the time she was with us she lived big and with a lot moments full of glitter.
Portia was born in Garden Grove, California on September 4, 1964 to the late Bruce Harold and Bonnie (Houghtaling) McDermid. One of four children, she leaves behind her brother Bruce and now joins her sister Paula Marie and step-sister Miranda Meyer.
Noted as the best passenger ever, Portia was liked by all she came in contact with. She was the hardest of workers, the biggest of givers and also had a pinch of stubborn in her.
She loved long walks, tending her gardens, playing some cards or fishing from her kayak. Portia would raise a drink and toast her family and friends and eagerly brag up her nieces and nephews both blood and honorary. She really was the token Aunt to all.
She is survived and missed by brother Bruce (Ginger), niece Jennifer (Alex), great niece Claire, nephew Hunter (Brandy), great nephew Grayson and soon to arrive Brynlee Jean. She is also survived by step dad Joe Moore and Cindy (Bruce) Parker as well as best friend and side kick Claire Siderman.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister and step sister.
A Celebration of Life the way Portia would want it is being planned for Sunday September 11, 2022 from 2p-5p at 5641 Bartlett Road, Buckley, MI 49620.
Portia and her family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
