Rebecca "Beccy" Janis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rebecca ‘Beccy’ Janis joined the Lord in heaven on October 11, 2021 at age 71 after a valiant battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Charlie Janis, children Justin (Tischa) Erickson, Jennifer Erickson (Jason Nickerson), Ashlee (Eric) Trainer, Maxwell (Peggy) Janis, Amber Janis, Laura (Josh) Badall and grandchildren Delainey, Lauren, Sofía, Marina, Roman and Joey. Beccy was born in Petoskey, MI on December 29, 1949 to parents Ande and Ruth Bodary and had four siblings, Lee, Roger, Ann, and Lisa. On December 23, 2005 she married Charlie, the love of her life. An entrepreneur and businesswoman, Beccy owned and ran Celebrations Party Store for 20 years and then, at the age of 55, transitioned into a successful career in real estate. She was the quintessential realtor, always dedicated to finding her clients the perfect home. Her enthusiasm and commitment resulted in her winning numerous awards within the industry including Rookie of the Year, nominations for Coldwell Banker Schmidt’s Realtor of the Year, two time Chairman’s Club designation, Schmidt Family of Realtors Top 50 Realtors, past President of the Women’s Council of Realtors and past President and Board Member of the Traverse Area Association of Realtors. Beccy was passionate about giving back to her local community as a Board Member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, a founding member of the local chapter of Bras for a Cause as well as volunteering with Single MOMMs of Traverse City, the Women’s Resource Center and Girls on the Run among many others. An avid reader, Beccy also loved playing golf and running, entertaining friends and family at home, decorating, volunteering, perusing art fairs, spending time with her children and grandchildren, taking yearly trips with her granddaughters and Friday night date nights with Charlie. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 19th at 11:00am at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Kenneth Stachnik will preside with Fred Sczcepanski providing musical accompaniment. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Traverse City Country Club.
