Ronald J. Bishop

Ronald J. Bishop, born 11/20/1946, died from complications related to sepsis, weak heart, and multiple sclerosis on May 12, 2022. He is survived by wife, Mary Ann, son Troy (Michelle), grandchildren Morgan August Bishop, Eric J. Bishop, Jenna Grace, and Matthew Buesh, step-grandson, and his daughter, Lisa M. Bishop Carlson, her children Kelsey A. Bishop, S. Magnus Carlson and Erroll R. Carlson. He has one nephew still alive, James J. Parker. His parents, Joe and Mabel Bishop, as well as his sister Judy Harrington proceeded him in death. Ron was a Cub Master for the Boy Scouts, a member of the Knights of Columbus, he sang with the Barbershop Chorus from Boyne City and Hallelujah Chorus. He volunteered at Blandford Nature Center during maple sugar season. He also sang in the choir at St. Matthew’s Church in Boyne City and St. Roberts in Ada, MI. He was an active Catholic. He helped out where ever he was needed as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Parish and Finance Counsel, Parish activities with the kids of the Parish i.e. 2 plays and a couple Halloween Spook House events. He was an Engineer at what started out as Courter and now is called Honeywell in Boyne City. He also worked for Jet Electronics which is now L-3 Avionic in Grand Rapids. He joined the K of C in each Parish he attended and served as Grand Knight three times. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 12/23/2010. He had progressive MS so each month he had variable changes in his balance and weakness in his limbs. He had trouble fighting infections and staying hydrated so his organs finally stopped functioning. A funeral Mass will take place Wednesday May 18, 2022 to honor Ron at 11:00am at St. Francis Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10am until the beginning of Mass.
