Ruth Annette Webster
November 1, 1923 - February 9, 2021
Ruth Annette Webster, 97, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Ruth Elliott was born on November 1, 1923 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Clifford and Anna (Johnson) Elliott. She married Robert B. Webster in May of 1952. He preceded her in death in 1957. Ruth had a strong work ethic. She owned and operated WebsterWood Resort on Long Lake for many years and during the winters worked at various gift shops. She was so creative with flowers and using natural materials to make pine cone wreaths and arrangements. The birthday cakes she made for the family were extra special, most memorably a castle cake with a drawbridge made of chocolate, an island with a beach, boat and candy rocks and a treasure chest made out of chocolate that you could open. Ruth found joy in hosting students from the Interlochen Arts Academy forming a life long bond with several of them. She especially loved living on Long Lake. She enjoyed watching the sunsets from the dock, listening to the loons and swimming in the lake. She loved nature and could be found outside raking leaves even into her nineties. She is survived by two daughters and a son; Daryl Webster, Tamara Webster and David (Jan) Webster as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Douglas Jordan, two brothers and three sisters. In accordance with Ruth’s wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. She was such a sweet person and will be missed.
