Obituary

Scott Alan Talquist, 57, of Traverse City passed away with his family by his side on January 4, 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was "rough, tough and hard to diaper" until the very end. Throughout his illness he never lost his sense of humor or his will to live. His love for his family was strong and he will live on in their hearts forever.

Scott was born on December 15, 1966 in Auburn, Indiana to the late Frederick Charles and Barbara Jean (Vyverberg) Talquist.

Scott grew up in Traverse City and was a proud graduate of the school of hard knocks. He owned and operated Just Mulch landscaping company. He loved his work and took great pride in taking nothing and making it into something beautiful. He created many ponds and waterfalls that were true works of art. He was always cleaning, tinkering and working.

In his free time, he enjoyed a good game of euchre, throwing darts, playing pool and a good bonfire. Above all else, he absolutely loved his family and friends. His grandchildren had him wrapped around their little finger and he just adored them.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Granny, "brother" Art and many beloved friends.

Scott is survived by his wife Debbie; children Hailey (Fiance) Seth Price Talquist, Jeremy Hower, Kaytlynn (Killian) Moody and Cody; grandchildren Kaleb, Jaxsen and Ginny; sister Char (brother Denis) Opolski, mother-in-law Terry Timmermans; best friend Ike who stuck with him to the very end along with many family members and friends.

The memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning one hour prior at Long Lake Friends Church. A luncheon will follow.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
