Shama was one of three children growing up in Albany, New York. She became an American Citizen on December 11, 1980. She loved to play piano as a young girl. She graduated and went on to earn her Bachelors degree from Hudson Valley Community College in New York in 1991. She did her two internships at Spectrum Health in Reed City Campus in 1997. She also worked for Great Lakes Community Mental Health. She excelled at all of her jobs and often received great recognitions from her employers. She was a hard worker and a friend to all.
She joined the armed services on August 4, 2007 and was honorably discharged on June 6, 2012 due to an injury while serving. She was very proud to have served her country.
Shama loved all people. She had a smile you couldn't pass up. It was contagious. As a child and adult, she loved skiing, kayaking, bowling, canoeing and ice skating. In 1983, she enjoyed sunny acres day camp. She was in 4-H in 1985. In later years, she loved sporty cars and even won one once at the casino. She loved to play slots and bingo.
She worked in several nursing homes and Rose Gate, an AFC home; the Record Eagle and was a respected house keeper.
She loved children and animals and they loved her back. She will be greatly missed by many people.
Life would knock her down several times, but she always got back up and gave it her all.
Her "mom" Doris always shared with her that, although she wasn't her biological mother, in her heart, she was her daughter. She loved her very much and will miss her smile.
Rest in Peace, dear Shama.
