Tony Broghamer

Tony, 72 of Lake Ann passed away October 1, 2021. Tony was born February 12, 1949 in Traverse City to the late Anton L. and Lorraine M. (Hopkins) Broghamer. After graduating from high school, Tony enlisted in the United States Navy. He served 4 years active duty in the Seabees unit (Construction, Battalion). While serving he met his future bride at a Naval Seabee club in Davisville Rhode Island. On June 2, 1972 Tony married Denise Marguerite Sylvestre in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. They moved back to his home state of Michigan in the mid 70's where he continued his career at Giant Way. He worked there for over 30 years ending his career there as their produce manager. After Giant Way he worked for a number of years for bash and Banton Construction before retiring. Tony enjoyed hunting and fishing with his Father, Uncle and brother. Camping with the family was a true joy for him. He loved going to the Sault and the U.P. to watch the freighters. Tony had a great sense of humor and could make just about anyone laugh. He loved John Wayne and enjoyed watching country western movies. Tony is survived by his wife of 49 years, Denise. Their children Amy Broghamer, Leslie (David) Frederick and Lori (Derek) Yanska; grandchildren David, Joseph, Ashley, Mikayla, Elizabeth, Garrett and Gracie; great grandson Samuel; and siblings Linda Witkowski, Kneale Broghamer and Gayle (Joel) Tolle. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7 from 5-8 pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass for Tony will take place at 11am on Friday, October 8 at St. Francis Catholic Church with viewing one hour prior. A luncheon will follow the church service. Tony will be laid to rest at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at 11am on Saturday October 9 where he will receive full military honors.
