Victoria J. Provencher

November 4, 1921 - October 15, 2020

Victoria (Vicky) was born November 4, 1921 in Traverse City, MI to Marie and Jon Podoba. She was a graduate of Traverse City Central High School, attended the Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Michigan. On June 7,1944, she married Capt. Robert (Bob) Provencher in a military wedding at Fort Smith AK. They raised three sons and two daughters. Vicky had an early passion for music and was a violinist for the University of Michigan orchestra and carried that enthusiasm over when working as a secretary for Soil Conservation and the Ford Motor Co. during WWII. She enjoyed entertaining family members and friends with her musical abilities, especially playing the Lowrey Organ. Grandchildren visits were always a special musical treat. She also loved to attend concerts at Interlochen Arts Academy and had the ability to playback much of the music without notes. Vicky enjoyed being out-of-doors, especially when it came to hunting for morel mushrooms and wild blueberries. Landscaping flowers and shrubs and maintaining her yard regardless of the seasons was one of her pastimes. She was a member of Saint Francis Catholic Parish and participated in numerous fund raiser activities, with her husband Bob, when their children attended the school. Vicky was proceeded in death by her husband Bob, sister Vlasta Podoba-Shumate, and brothers Victor and William. She is survived by her five children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jon (Barbara) Provencher, Geneva, IL., Chuck (Karen) Provencher, Terrebonne, OR., Renee (Rob) Cochell, Brandon, FL., Rochelle Provencher, Traverse City, MI., and David (Mary Murphey) Provencher, Madison, WI. Granddaughters, Anne Provencher-Bike, Kallie Provencher and Sarah Jane Provencher, Grandsons, Mark Provencher, Kyle Provencher and Graham Provencher. Great granddaughters Quinn, Ellery Victoria and Thea Bike, Prielle Provencher and great grandson Bodhi Provencher. A memorial service honoring Victoria has taken place.
