Virginia Lee Ritondale

Virginia Lee (Oatley) Ritondale, 84, passed away from natural causes on March 20, 2022.

She was born on November 18, 1937 in Traverse City to the late Carl Danner and Elizabeth (Tompkins) Oatley.

She was a loving mother, wife, family member and friend to all. Nursing, family and faith were her foundation. Cruises, pets, cooking, knitting, movies and theater were amongst her passions.

Virginia was a battler, overcoming life changing obstacles with strength and sheer stubbornness. She was a kind and caring person and will be dearly missed.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, grandson Chris Chambers, brother Jack Oatley, sisters Charlotte Nardizzi and Doris Van Epps and nephew Michael Oatley.

Virginia is survived by her son James (Merrie) Thompson; daughters Jill (Jon) Polmateer and Johanna (Jon) Chambers; grandchildren Grace, Jack, Jennifer, Julie, Shannon and Jon; great grandchildren Emelia, Owen, Adelene, Mia, Pheona, Mallory, Lucy, Annie and Jack; and brothers Carl Oatley and Richard (Helen) Oatley.

The memorial service celebrating her life will take place on April 9, 2022 at 11 am at Grace Episcopal Church with visitation beginning one hour prior.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Kidney Foundation.
