TRAVERSE CITY — Adam "Frank" Glowacki, 75, of Traverse City and formerly of the Detroit area, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, surrounded by his family, at his home in Traverse City. Frank was born Aug. 6, 1935, to the late Adam and Anna (Sokolowski) Glowacki Sr. in Hamtramck. Frank entered into marriage with the former Elaine Theil on Saturday, May 5, 1956, in Detroit. Together Frank and Elaine began their family in St. Clair Shores. Making his living working as a mechanic, Frank eventually relocated the family to northern Michigan. In earlier years, Frank enjoyed the winter weather, snowmobiling and was a member of the Traverse Trail Travelers. Frank was always very handy and would help out any way he could, putting others first. He joined a partner to put his talent to the test as he co-owned and operated Craig's Trailer Sales and Service for many years.He was a member of the campers club and spent several years hauling the trailer to Arizona for the winter. Frank and Elaine really took to the warm winters and the community they found in Arizona. While back at home they attended and were members at Bible Baptist Church. Frank was a true family man and had a great love for his family, putting them first and foremost in his life. Frank is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Elaine, of Traverse City; two sons, Frank (Kim) Glowacki, of Charlotte, N.C., and Michael (Gail) Glowacki, of Traverse City; his daughter, Sheryl (Bryan) Shaff, of Ashville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Scott Shaff, Staff Sgt. Keith Shaff, Heather LeCureux, Brandon Glowacki and Amanda Glowacki; his brother, J. Ronald Glowacki; his sister, Mary Ann Barkkari; and many other loving family members and friends.Frank was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at the Bible Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Pastor Joel Brown will officiate. Private graveside committal services will be held in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
