Adele Ruth Fournier, 96, of Traverse City, passed away surrounded by many of her loving family members Friday, February 7, 2025.
Adele was born February 12, 1928, to Uno Brynolf Wuolukka and Evelyn Sigrid (Lovas) Wuolukka. She Graduated from Dondero High School in Royal Oak, Michigan. She went on to work as a legal secretary for Robert Turner. a young attorney and family friend in Ferndale, Michigan. The moment Dave saw Adele he was captivated by her beauty and asked Bob for an introduction. Through Bob she met the love of her life, David (Dave)Michael Fournier. Their story began at the Totem Pole restaurant on Woodward Ave, where Dave bought an ice cream that they shared. From that day forward, their love story began to unfold. They were married on July 31, 1948, at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale Michigan.
Adele and Dave dreamed about having a large, loving family. She and Dave fulfilled that by welcoming 12 wonderful children. She adored babies especially her own and found immense joy in raising her family. As the heart of her home, Adele was the one who kept everyone together, a steady, wise, and loving influence on all.
Faith was always very important to Adele. She joined Dave in becoming a Catholic. They were members of Our Lady of La Salette in Berkley, MI. as they began their journey together. Later they moved to Royal Oak MI. and then worshipped in The Shrine of the Little Flower. They eventually retired to their vacation home in Traverse City Mi and joined The Immaculate Conception Church.
Adele enjoyed painting, drawing, reading, crossword puzzles, and coloring. She was known as the family peacemaker, always bringing calm and love to those around her. To her final days, she cherished countless fond memories of her family, who, in turn loved her deeply.
Adele is survived by her children, David (Mary) Fournier Jr., Diane Feeney, Martha (Mark) Martin, Daniel (Deborah) Fournier, Janette (Ron) Chalk, Richard (Barbara) Fournier. Evelyn (Joe) Borunda, Mary (Jim) Lonergan, Una (Keven) Sheldon; 32 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, Henereta Kawalski sister-in-law. Steve Thomas Brother-in-law, Lyn Wuolukka sister-in-law, and many other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 72 years David Michael Fournier Sr., siblings Joan Estes, Richard Wuolukka, Anne Thomas, Dennis Wuolukka, children Donald Karl Fournier, Michele Renee Silvers, Elaine Annette Ksiazek; grandchild Michael Patrick Feeney, Ava Marie Demeshko, David Silvers and Christopher Fournier; and son in-laws Richard Michael Feeney, Gary Ksiazek.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral home at 11AM to 1 PM. The Rev. Father Anthony Citro of Immaculate Conception Church will officiate the burial at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens in Traverse City, Mi in the spring. Memorial contributions in Adele's honor may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
