Adell (Couturier) Maksimowicz (Traverse City)
Born Adell Antoinette on June 6, 1934, she was the only daughter of Eugene Franklin and Theresa Crain. Her father lost his life in France in WWII. Adell spent her growing up years in the loving care of her stepfather, Joseph F. Brunais on his farm in Bear Lake with siblings Joe, Edna, Melissa, Judy, Audrey, Joanie and Phillip.
Adell was a unique individual, never quite finding her niche in life, but never giving up the search. She shared her home with unwed mothers in the 1960's, homeless persons, college students, and various relatives.
It was easy for Adell to love her family. She leaves behind her children Skip (Mary) Couturier, Diana McArthur, Mike (Holly) Couturier, and Nan (Larry) Lewis. No grandchild has known more love than Justin, Ryan and Gabe Couturier, Holly (Chay) Gray, Eric Batterson, Ian McArthur, Candy (Cheney) Schopieray, Niki Begley, Amanda (Daniel) Doezema, Ashley Roper, Alissa (Dan) Hess. Her great- grandchildren held a special place in her heart. They included Lumi, Nadia, Sophia, Lane, Sylvanus, Emby, Elizabeth, Scarlett, Ruby, Rex, Rory Belle, Eli, and Silas.
Adell was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley J. Maksimowicz Jr.; son Kent E. Couturier and grandson Tony Lewis.
The family is forever grateful for the compassionate care of Hospice of Michigan.
In lieu of flowers Adell would like you to consider a donation to Heifer International.
