TRAVERSE CITY - Albert E. "Bud" Schweitzer, passed in peace of natural causes and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the age of 85 at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City, MI
Al was born in Grosse Pointe Park, MI on February 23, 1931 to the late Albert and Elsie (Orling) Schweitzer, he was the second of two children. He was raised and grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI. where he graduated Grosse Pointe High in 1948. He was a long-time member of St. James Lutheran Church. He began his career for the Dodge Motor Co. in 1949 until his retirement from Chrysler Corporation in 1980. After his retirement, they spent summers at Harsens Island, MI before moving to Traverse City in the early 1990's. Al, and his wife Marion, enjoyed many winters in Sun City West, AZ
Al is survived by his wife of 63 years Marion (Ghesquiere) Schweitzer, his sons Robert & Wife Diane, Gary & Wife Dena. He leaves four grandchildren, Ethan, Adam, Madison & William and one great grandson Staszek. He is proceeded in death by his parents Albert & Elsie and his brother Carl.
Al lived a full and exemplary life, with his dedication to family, church and community. Al enjoyed restoring old cars and was actively involved, and a long-time member of the Lincoln Continental Owners Club and was a charter member of the Mustang Club of America.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church.
