Albert Edward Weber, 87, of Traverse City , died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Glen Eagle in Traverse City.
Al was born on Sunday, February 8, 1925 to the late Frank and Catherine (Rahe) Weber in Kingsley. He served our country as a member of the U. S. Army from 1950 until 1952, being discharged at the rank of Staff Sgt (T). He married Cecelia Mary Duperron on Saturday, October 25, 1958 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City.
Al had been a life long resident of Grand Traverse County. He had been employed at Traverse City Iron Works and later became a truck driver, driving through all 49 states and across Canada from British Columbia to Quebec province. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and American Legion Post 436 in Kingsley. Al loved to work in the kitchen, making delicious pies and breads, as well as canning vegetables from his garden. He was very proud of his lawn and garden, enjoyed playing cards and fishing, but will always be remembered for his devotion to and love for his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Frank (Natalie) Weber of Cheboygan, Allen (Paula) Weber of Grand Rapids, Tammy (Daniel) Stricker of Lake Ann and Kimberly (Robert) Struthers of Petoskey. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Travis and Cody Stricker of Lake Ann and Zachary and Zoey Weber of Grand Rapids, as well as his brothers and sisters, Rosemary Pence of Gobles, Gerald (Mary Jane) Weber of Grand Rapids, Marion (Ray) Narlock of Grand Rapids, Stanley (Sue) Weber of Arizona, Helen (Ken) Burgess of Grand Rapids and sisters in law Doris Weber of Allendale and Alice Weber of Grand Rapids . Al was preceded in death by his wife Cecelia on May 1, 2008, by his parents, brothers, Bernard and Francis, and brother in law Jim Pence.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
