Obituary

Alberta Elizabeth Aiello (nee Thomson), age 90 of Traverse City Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, with family by her side. Alberta was born in Detroit Michigan. As the devoted mother of four and office secretary, her life is celebrated for her kindness, strength, resilience and unwavering love for her family.

Alberta loved her faith, family, dolls, church choir, two cats and other collectibles.

Faith: Alberta loved her church family at St. Christopher's in Detroit. She sang with the choir and took many happy trips around the country to sing at various churches and even Epcot at Disney World. She LOVED to make dolls for the church festival that was a glorious celebration of her Polish heritage with feasts, dancing, raffles and joyful community.

Family: Alberta raised four children with the help of her mom Josephine Thomson. She worked clerical jobs, drove children to activities and supported each one with her enthusiasm, courage and example in whatever career path they chose. She listened, loved and celebrated each milestone of their lives.

Dolls: Alberta collected dolls from a very young age. Her passion led to her huge collection of antique reproductions which she created and dressed, to several National Barbie Conventions, the local doll club and everything in between that had to do with dolls!

Cats and Dogs: Alberta had 2 cats. She always named her cats after Shakespearean characters. The current ones are Othello and Rosalind aka the dust mop. She had a loving rescue dog Hamlet.

Her legacy is of joy, faith and courage. While Alberta loved to worry about just about anything, she also gave courage and example throughout many life challenges. She loved people, parties and eating cheesecake and pudding. She did not, however, like exercise or vegetables. When under heavy sedation in the hospital, she was known to swear in several languages giving the staff a good laugh.

Alberta is survived by children Anne (Gerald) Brow, Grace Aiello (Jim Denniston), Raphael Aiello (Lee Andrus), her grandchildren Theresa Rose (Russel) Bloss, Alex Aiello, Gerald Brow, Anne and Alexander Denniston, great grandchildren Oliver and Lily Bloss, and her former spouse Ralph Aiello. Alberta is preceded in death by her oldest child, Anthony, her brother Peter Thomson, and her parents Josephine and Alex Thomson.
