Alberta Jane Sweet

Alberta Jane Sweet, 98, of Old Mission Peninsula passed away peacefully at Cherry Hill Haven.

Alberta was born on April 21, 1922 in Dennis, KS to the late Charles Andrew and Minnie (Wissman) Pilkington. She attended schools in Dennis and Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School where she also took college classes. While working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Salina, Kansas she met and married Lyle S. Sweet on April 17, 1943.

Alberta is survived by her daughters Beverly Milligan, Waterford; Barbara (Harold) Greanya, Traverse City and six grandchildren: Darrell Stokes (Jacqui Gentile), Kingston, New York; Deborah (Jeff) Herdman, Davisburg; Jason (Viki) Greanya, Dayton, OH; Benjamin (Dana Rokosny) Greanya, Portland, OR; Katie (Matt) Fetzner, Orion Township; Danna (Jim) Spencer, Clawson. And eight great grandchildren: Samantha, Adam, Keri, Tier, Alexandra, Elaina, Stevie and Carlie.

Alberta was preceded in death by her husband Lyle; siblings Clarence, Blanche, Dorothy and Everett; and son-in-law Dan Milligan.

Alberta volunteered with school, Girl Scouts and the Old Mission Women's Club. She enjoyed needlework and traveling with her husband.

Until 2 weeks ago she lived in her own home with support from her daughter, Barbara, and home care helpers. She was an independent woman!

Alberta will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm at the Ogdensburg Cemetery on Friday, November 6, 2020.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the American Kidney Foundation or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
