Obituary

Alethea "Lee" Isabel Kendall, 74, of Interlochen, passed away on Monday July 7, 2014. Lee was born on July 6, 1940, in Gothemburg, NE., to the late John W. and Buford (Groenwold) Toberer.

Lee married her husband the late John W. Kendall, in Battle Creek, MI., on May 24, 1964, and the couple had one daughter together. They moved to the Traverse City in 1972, from Mattawan, MI.

Lee worked as a server at the Milliken Tea Room and Sugarloaf Lodge for many years and later at the Courtyard by Marriot. She loved all the Holiday's and was fond of wearing a sweatshirt celebrating the Holiday occasion. She had a strong marriage with her husband John, and loved her family deeply displaying photos of everyone in most of the rooms of her home. Lee enjoyed gardening and was known for having a "green thumb" and could grown and save almost any ailing plant. She enjoyed country music and was an avid morning fan of local radio host Jack O'Malley.

Lee is survived by a daughter, Karmel Lee (David) Clark of Interlochen, step-daughter, Kathy Halligan of Lansing, Karla (John) Johnson of Lansing, Kerry (Donald) Briggs of Parish FL.; step-son in-law, Steven Vanneste of Lansing; brother, Neal Rodney Toberer (Sharon) of Broken Bow, NE; grandchildren, Madison Rose Clark, Samantha Lee Clark, Raymond Clark, Jordyn Clark, Heather Trentadue, Gregory (Nicole) Carroll, Douglas (Ann) Vanneste, Victoria (Drew) Cataldo, Daniel Vanneste, Jennifer (Kendrick) Elkins, Jacque (Jay) James and 20 great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wesley Kendall; step-daughter, Connie E. Vanneste; step-son, Charles Kendall.

Following Lee's wishes cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, 1200 Ramsdell Rd. Traverse City, MI., with visitation held one hour prior at 10:00am.
