Alexandra Lypeckyj born May 26, 1939 in Ukraine to Ilya & Sophia Salamaca, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 ("Mother's Day"), Feast of the Paralytic on the Orthodox Church Calendar.
Alexandra emigrated to the United States, via Germany, after World War II, settling in Rochester, New York. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music & the University of Rochester, Alexandra was a lifelong organist in the Roman Catholic Church. She was also a singer and choir director, taught piano, both at home and at Sacred Heart Seminary.
She married Roman George Lypeckyj, also from Ukraine, and she relocated to Detroit, Michigan. A dedicated homemaker, she bore two children, Adrianna & Mark who survive her. She is also survived by her brothers, Roman, Oleh, Myron, Taras, and Alexander Salamaca, her sisters Olga (Fitzsimmons) and Larissa (Sisti), along with many nieces and nephews.
Alexandra was received from the Byzantine Rite [Ukrainian] Greco-Catholic Church into the Holy Orthodox Church late in life.
A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St. Traverse City, MI. The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church, 7111 US-31, Williamsburg, MI.
