Alexandria Ashley Armstrong, 31, of Olathe, Kansas (formerly Elk Rapids), died unexpectedly due to an electrical fire in her home. Alex was born August 9, 1987 in Flint. Alex attended Elk Rapids Schools. She completed High School at Fort Zumwalt, O'Fallon, MO, in 2005.
Alex was very brave. She was beautiful inside and out: brilliant, precocious, very creative, a voracious reader (especially Sci-Fi), intuitive, sensitive, and humorous. She was a make-up artist, and a musician playing saxophone, clarinet, and bass clarinet. She was an expert video gamer; she always won! She was a trivia champion, computer geek, tech wizard, and a talented photographer. She loved her cat Damon. She is already profoundly missed. Life is not fair.
Alex is survived by her mother Janet M. Smith-Hickman; step-father Ross Hickman; father William G. Armstrong Jr. Brother James W. Armstrong; grandparents Joyce & James Smith, Margaret & Dan Brodbeck, and Janice Armstrong; step-siblings Alexander, Natalie, and Spencer Hickman; aunts/uncles Scott (Cathy) Smith, Guy Armstrong, Matt Stimson, Jerry (Leann) Rumler, Terry (Lorna) McHugh, Harry Brodbeck, Daniel Brodbeck III; cousins Adam Smith, Sarah Smith, Jaclyn Armstrong, Andrea Armstrong, Trevor Stimson; and boyfriend Ryan Herrin.
Alex was preceded in death by grandfather William G. Armstrong; aunt Jennifer (Smith) Stimson; and cousin Devon Warner.
