Obituary

Allen "Dean" Hartman, 74, almost 75, of South Lake Leelanau passed away at home on Monday, November 18, 2019 with his loving family at his side.

Dean was born on January 13, 1945 in Jay County, IN to the late Ralph and Violet (Zeigler) Hartman. He married Donna Jean Rowling on January 16, 1962 in Traverse City, MI.

Dean was a member of the Northland Community Church. He was a mounted Deputy, Sherriff Posse in Leelanau County and a volunteer for the Bingham Fire Department. He enjoyed horseback riding, working on the farm, snowmobiling and wood working. Most of all Dean loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by each of them.

Surviving Dean is his wife Donna of 58 wonderful years; children, Jody Aprill, Joellen (Greg) Kiessel, Joel (Lisa) Hartman, Audri (Devante Walker) Waldron; grandchildren, Jamie (Brad) Schichtel, Mandy (Brian) Weible, Tonya (Jeremy) Hanley, Amber (Josh) Turner, Jessica (Ed) Grubaugh, and Brenden Hartman; great grandchildren, Brayden, Gavin, and Jessica Schichtel, Carly, Cameron and Alexis Weible, Jenna Nelson, Lance Hanley, Brady, Kennedy, and JJ Turner, Caylee and Nathan Grubaugh, and Jake Kiessel; great-great grandchild Lincoln Walker; siblings, Marvin Hartman, Eva Coleman, Lowell (Janet) Hartman, John Hartman, Karen Matney, Thurl (Betty) Hartman, many neighborhood adopted grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dwayne, Raymond, Charles, son-in-law Scott Aprill, and Great Granddaughter Jasmine.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, from 4-7pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3pm with a visitation beginning at 2pm on Thursday November 21, 2019 at The Christ Church with Rev. Jeff Goodwin presiding.
