TRAVERSE CITY — Allyson Kaye Mayer died on July 8, 2011, on Mud Lake Road in Interlochen, due to a car accident.Born Nov. 21, 1992, Ally graduated with honors and awards from Traverse City West Senior High School then went on to Michigan State University in the James Madison Program for one year. Ally's outstanding academic performance earned her a nomination for membership in The National Honor Society. She touched the lives of so many in her athletic and academic pursuits, which included horse riding, swim team, tennis team, video production, Model United Nations, 4-H and countless others. She was determined in all aspects of her life and for her, greatness was not enough. Ally always strove to go beyond her personal best and was a true "Hero" to her family. She could accomplish anything that caught her impeccable devotion. Ally loved horses; they were in her blood, and she was a natural with them. She had grand visions for herself, her family and her friends. She would conquer a goal with her bright spirit and peculiar sense of humor (matt, gnomes, mauh, ewwwoh, wrath of the chicken, you know "¦ ), and drag everyone along with her to the end. She was fun-loving, silly beyond belief — on her trail ride of life.Surviving are her mother, Sharon Kay Kummerfeldt Mayer; father, Grant David Mayer; brothers, Wesley Grant, Austin John and Connor David; grandparents, Joann and Jack Mayer; and aunts, uncles and cousins. The staff of The Prescription Shop and Outback Steakhouse will sorely miss her, as will all of her dear friends and acquaintances. She lives on in the memories of those she left behind and is still with us all. My Mommy personal note: "I will always hold you dear to my heart, babycakes, always. I love you sooo much, to infinity and beyond!!"Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 12, from 2 to 5 p.m., with the funeral to be held at 5 p.m., at Bay Pointe Community Church, 6880 Secor Road, Traverse City, MI 49684; (231) 922-9882. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served for fellowship following the service. We would like everyone to bring a happy memory of Ally to share in her memory book.Because Ally felt so strongly that she and her brothers attain the greatest goals in life, in lieu of flowers, we feel donations to a scholarship fund in her name would be appropriate. Condolences may be sent to 2625 Wild Coyote Drive, Interlochen, MI 49643. Please share thoughts and memories of Ally in her guestbook at
