Aloysius Stanley Winowiecki

Al Stanley Winowiecki, 89, of Cedar passed away peacefully on August 19, 2022 with his loving family by his side.

Al was born on December 4, 1932 in Solon Township to the late Peter John and Elizabeth (Kedrovach) Winowiecki. He was one of nine children.

On May 15, 1954, Al married Shirley A. Brown in Traverse City at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Al honorably served our country in the United States Army. He was a certified tank mechanic and served in Korea during the Korean War for 3 years. At the time of discharge he had earned the rank of Tech Sargent.

He was employed at Sara Lee for over 30 years. He and Shirley were devoted members at Immaculate where he helped usher, served on the funeral luncheon committee and helped with collections.

Al, also known as Loyze will be remembered for his soft spirit and kind heart. He loved tending to his vegetables in their garden, hunting, watching the birds and wood cutting. He also liked to bake pies with Shirley on Sundays. Above all else, Al cherished his family and especially loved his grandbabies.

Al is survived by his children Christopher (Carol) Winowiecki, Debra Corby, Dianna (Mike) Sheridan, Aloysius "Al Jr. / Sput" Winowiecki, Steve (Kristine) Winowiecki, Douglas (Teresa) Winowiecki and Lisa (Dave) Rahe; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; sister Delores (Robert) Kronberg.

Al was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, son Daniel, infant daughter Sheila; siblings Frank, Ann, Victor, Agnes, Marie, Peter and Patricia.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm under the tent at the Gardens at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with visitation beginning one hour prior. A luncheon will follow in centennial hall. Graveside services will then take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens where he will receive full military honors.
