Amy Eleanor LaGuire, age 45 of Traverse City, passed away on February 22, 2024, at Henry Ford Hospital after a month of failing health and complications.
Amy was born on November 19, 1978, in St. Johns, Michigan to her loving parents, Dave and Deb LaGuire. Five years later, she was joined by her "bestest, favorite, little" brother, Zachary, and the family enjoyed many trips to Hilton Head Island and Traverse City, usually bunking with Amy's Godparents, Uncle Mike, Aunt Cindy (Eldredge) and cousins/playmates, Rebecca and Kristy. Amy was an artist, a tennis player, and a musician throughout high school in St. Johns and at Alma College. After moving to Savannah, Georgia and later Atlanta, she proudly earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Savannah College of Art and Design. She worked creatively in the design field at TVS and Brintons in Atlanta while raising her adored son, David Carter LaGuire who is now 16. Her Traverse City family (and especially, Elliana) were delighted when they moved back to Michigan in the early summer of 2023. Amy's feisty and independent spirit (inherited from her Nana!) and positive sunny attitude won her many forever friends including Laura D., Jessey G., Laura K., Kevin, cousins, and many more.
Amy was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church in St. Johns. She was confident of God's unconditional love for her and accepted His almighty will in her life. Her favorite phrase "It will be FINE!", exemplifies her sunny spirit and positive attitude. Although she is dearly missed on earth, she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior. "Now it IS fine."
Amy leaves behind her son, David Carter LaGuire, parents, Dave and Deb LaGuire, brother Zachary and family, "Boppa" William Springer, Aunt Cindy Eldredge, uncles David (Julia) Springer, Matt (Kim) Springer, and many dear cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her "Nana" Dee Springer, her Uncle Mike Eldredge, and her paternal grandparents, Merrill and Elsie LaGuire.
The family would like to thank the staff of Munson Medical Center and Henry Ford Hospital for their care of Amy, and the many friends and family for their love, support, and prayers.
A memorial service honoring Amy will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1003 S. Maple St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to the David Carter LaGuire Memorial Benefit College Fund, checks can be made payable to David or Deborah LaGuire c/o 825 W. Seventh St. #311, Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
