Amy Janel (Majszak) Thoreson, 52, of Maple City, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, with her loving family at her side.
Amy was born on October 14, 1970 in Traverse City to Frank and Ruth "Sally" (Baatz) Majszak. Amy met and fell in love with James "Jim" Michael Thoreson in spring of 1985 while attending Glen Lake High School. The two shared the love of music, as both participated in band, jazz band, and choir. Amy was very talented in both the clarinet and the saxophone. On July 21, 1990 the two were married at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Empire, MI and they started a wonderful loving family.
Amy's experiences with the medical field through the birth and delivery of her children, and a diagnosis of thyroid cancer in 2005 inspired her to seek natural ways of treatment with the help of a naturopathic doctor in Canada. Her success in the remission of the cancer and her medical experiences encouraged her to share her journey by publishing her own book, "Discovering Life's Blessings in Disguise". She influenced friends and family to look into other health options to see which was best for them. Amy was always looking out for those around her and trying to help them in any way possible, naturopathic healing was just one of those ways.
Networking was a very important part of Amy's life. Empowering women through networking was one of her passions. She was a member of BNI, co-creator of VINES, an affiliate member of the Traverse Area Association of Realtors, and also an associate of the Women's Council of Relators. She invested her time early in life in Amway and most recently in SendOutCards building relationships. In 2019 she became licensed in Rapid Transformational Therapy, helping so many people with past problems work through them and giving them hope.
Amy and her family are devoted members at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Her faith was important and significantly helped Amy with the health journey she was on. Over the last year, the depths of her faith increased as she became closer to God. Amy's light and love for her family, friends and everyone she met will be missed. Her smile, love for summer sunshine and the beach, and her gentle soul will be remembered forever. Her strength of character and faith was inspiring to many and still is.
Amy is survived by her husband of 33 devoted years; her children Bridget, Micah, Jenaya; her father Frank Majszak, mother Sally Majszak; her siblings Mark Majszak, Richard Majszak, Margaret "Maggie" (David) Erickson, and many other loving family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Amber Rose and her sister-in-law Renee Majszak.
