Andrew "Andy" David Hoffman, 36, of Traverse City, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Andrew was born on June 8, 1976, in Denver, CO to David Phillip and Gayle Janis (Dawson) Hoffman.
Andy was a 1994 graduate from Traverse City Central High School and earned an associate's degree from Northwestern Michigan College.
As an adult, he lived at various times in East Lansing, Minneapolis, and Chicago where he pursued his life's dream of making it in improvisational comedy. Andy saw the world in a particular way and comedy was his way of connecting with people.
In 2009 he returned to Traverse City where he worked for Hagerty Insurance as a claims adjuster. He recently resumed performing in improv comedy with Guttersnipe Theatre.
Andy was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and a long-suffering and loyal fan of the Detroit Lions.
He attended the Immanuel Baptist Church as a child and later as an adult made a confession of Faith in Christ.
Andy was happiest when surrounded by his close friends. His offbeat wit will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Andy are his parents, David (Judy) Hoffman, Gayle Dawson, brothers, Bryce (Sheila) Hoffman, Charles (Kai Hsiang "Jean") Hoffman, nephew Connor, grandparents, Thompson and Margaret Dawson and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Andy is preceded in death by grandparents David and Charlotte "Lottie" Hoffman.
