Andrew "Andy" King, 83, of Traverse City passed away with his family by his side on March 8, 2024 at Munson Medical Center.

Andy was born on June 18, 1940 in Wiikwenkoong, Manitoulin Island in Ontario, Canada. He was a dual citizen in both Canada and the US and was a proud of his Odawa heritage.

Andy served in the United States Army in the 101st Screaming Eagles Ranger division.

Andy was a hard worker throughout his life first as a logger, then in the salt mine, and for many years at Waterland Floor and Tile.

Andy could often be found under the hood of a car, wrench in hand, fixing something or just tinkering for fun. He also loved to play the fiddle after he taught himself how to play. He loved to study scripture and his native language. He was a lifelong member of St. Kateri and loved Friday fish fry's. He was also proud to be sober for over 40 years. Above all else, he loved his family and loved watching them play sports.

Andy was preceded in death by his wife Paulette and brother Jimmy.

Andy is survived by his children Lisa (Tom) Balnius, Mark (Amy) King, Ken (Mallory) King and Robyn King; grandchildren Derek, Drew, Dillon, Willa, Addie and Cale and many extended family members, friends and church family.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 5 - 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Kateri on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning one hour prior.

Graveside services where he will receive military honors will follow at 2 pm at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation.
