Anita Phyllis Beall, 83, a Traverse City native passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Munson Medical Center. She was born on October 10, 1930 in Traverse City to the late Charles and Edna (Hunt) Melichar. She was married to Dr. John G. (Jack) Beall in 1964. He preceded her in death in 1985. Together they loved to cruise the Great Lakes on their boat the "Nattijac". Anita was a homemaker and worked years ago as an operator for Michigan Bell and in Jack's ophthalmology office.
Anita is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (David Prong) Keway, a sister, Barbara (Ron) Clinton, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Melichar. Also surviving are step-sons, nieces and nephews.
Anita was preceded in death by two infant sons; Steven and Michael Keway, their father, Philip Keway, a brother, Gerald Melichar, a sister, Maxine Streff, a brother-in-law, Del Streff and a special great aunt and uncle, Eleanor and Clarence Braden.
A memorial service honoring Anita will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel Henke will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
