Anita Marie Fasel, 71, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 8, 2024.
Anita was born on September 9, 1952, to Isadore and Marion Fasel in Traverse City. From a young age, she developed a deep love for the outdoors, particularly enjoying planting flowers such as roses, lilacs, and hostas. Being in nature brought her immense joy.
Anita graduated from Traverse City Central in 1970. Known for her strength and drive, she wasn't afraid to take on new challenges. One of her proudest achievements was her work in law enforcement as a corrections officer in Grand Traverse County.
In her later years, Anita enjoyed working in her flower beds and cheering on her beloved Detroit Tigers. She was a caring woman who loved hosting Thanksgiving, welcoming family and friends to her home, and ensuring everyone had a slice of her famous apple pie. Anita had a great sense of humor and could be quite stubborn when needed.
Anita also cherished the companionship of her cat, "Sammycat," for 21 years.
Anita is survived by her loving children, Erich (Jocelyn) Bohrer and Michele
Fasel, grandchildren Zachary (Alie) Bohrer, Mackenzie Bohrer and great-grandchild Sutton; her brother, Denny (Niki) Fasel; her sister, Connie (Skip) Natzmer; her sister-in-law, Kim Fasel; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Isadore and Marion Fasel, and her brother, Bruce Fasel.
A private celebration of life service will be held for Anita later in the summer.
