Anita Marie Snyder (Chase)
December 20, 1932, to January 8, 2023

"You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me." ― C.S. Lewis.

Our mom Anita would agree. She was a veracious reader, an artist, and a mother. Being a mother is what she was most proud of. With our father William Straub she had the four of us, Michael, Christopher, Susan, and Timothy.

She wasn't afraid of anything. After being widowed at the age of 37, mom took us on adventures across North America in our Airstream trailer. These travels brought much joy and always with new stories to tell. She met and married our stepfather, Van Snyder, and the adventures continued. There was a lot of country to explore, and soon after mom and Van were married, we moved to Arizona.

Mom went back to college after all of us graduated from high school and earned her bachelor's degree at 50 and her master's degree at 52. When mom wasn't creating works of art she was sewing, knitting, and baking.

After Van passed away, she wanted to come home to Traverse City. Anita grew up on East Bay in Traverse City and was a third generation Chase. She was the daughter of Ralph and Hazel Chase, granddaughter of Guy and Valona Chase, all of Traverse City. Anita passed peacefully on January 8th, 2023, just a few weeks past her 90th birthday.

In accordance with Anita's wishes cremation has taken place.
