Ann Robinson Hotchkiss

July 8, 1944 — December 25, 2018

Ann Robinson Hotchkiss, 74, passed away at her home in Northport on Christmas morning.
Ann was born July 8, 1944, in Owosso, Michigan, to Jean and Richard Robinson. Dick was deployed overseas with the Army at the time on Ann's birth, and didn't get to meet his baby girl until 16 months later.
When Ann was four, her family moved to Eaton Rapids. After high school, she went on to graduate from Albion College and received her master's degree from the University of Michigan.
Ann accepted a job in the St. Clair Shores Lakeview school district, where she taught hearing impaired preschoolers for 32 years. She was a staunch advocate of oral language for the hearing impaired, and helped countless children learn to communicate with the hearing world.
In 1978 Ann married William Hotchkiss and they made their home in Washington, Michigan.
After retiring from teaching, Ann moved to Northport, Michigan, where she spent her time enjoying the lake and devoting time to her passion: raising, training and showing her beloved Newfoundland dogs.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents. She is survived by her brother Pat Robinson of Eaton Rapids, sister Jane Ives of Berrien Springs, niece Annie Ives of Vancouver, Washington, and nephew Peter Ives of Vail, Colorado; her youngest Newfoundland, Louis, and her four feline friends.
A memorial service for Ann will be held at 11:00 on January 3, 2019, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
If you wish to make a donation in Ann's memory, please honor her love of animals by giving to AC Paw animal rescue of Traverse City, MSU Veterinary school, or to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
