Anna Theresa Horstman, 82, of Traverse City died unexpectedly Monday, July 27, 2015 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City

Anna was born on Monday, October 10, 1932 to the late Julia Elizabeth (Toth) and Frank Joseph Gyorkos in Flint.

Having lived in Copemish previously, Anna has been a resident of Traverse City for the last 25 years. On October 10, 1990 she married H. Robert Horstman, who survives. A living witness to her faith and discipleship to Jesus, Anna's faith was exemplified through her kind and loving soul and how she gave of herself to help others. Every life she touched benefited from her love of mankind. She never missed an occasion to send a card to a relative or friend celebrating a life event - she organized fund raisers to benefit those in need, and as a faithful and involved member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, she would recite the rosary with the Catholic community residing at Tendercare regularly.

Anna was a gifted cook, was a voracious reader and enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and friends. The "angel from Traverse City" will be deeply missed.

Surviving Anna are her husband Bob; her children, Michael (Roberta) LaValley of Kaleva, Pamela (Danny) Dickerson of Prescott, AZ, April LaValley of Prescott, AZ, Shawn (Brian) Guillot of Columbus, GA, Katherine (Xiaoyi) Wang of St. Petersburg, FL, David R. Horstman, also of St. Petersburg; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; siblings, George (Dawn) Gyorkos of Largo, FL and Mary Gretzinger of Clio, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Gerald, Frank, Jr. and Julia Rutherford.

Visitation for Anna will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at St. Patrick Catholic Church followed at 11 a.m. by the funeral mass. Father Greg McCallum will preside.

Memorial contributions in Anna's name may be directed to St. Patrick Church or to Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools.
